Nestled in the serene environment of Ubud, Terapung Float Club is damn cool, and it was one of the first ice bath spaces we visited in Bali.

Known for its sensory deprivation float tanks, the club also features state-of-the-art ice baths, sauna, red light therapy, IV therapy and different types of massage.

You could seriously spend hours in here doing all the different recovery modalities. The ice bath is nice crisp white, but a tad cramped compared to our Roman ice bath.

Terapung Float Club is perfect for those seeking a complete mental and physical reset. The serene environment of Ubud is always extra relaxing and a great escape (although very busy). The staff are really professional and the overall cleanliness is also really good which is important with these recovery spaces.

Services and Costs:

  • Ice Bath Session: Around AUD 50 / IDR 500,000 per session

  • Sensory Deprivation Float: Approximately AUD 70 / IDR 700,000

  • Membership packages available for frequent visitors

The combination of floating and ice bathing at Terapung Float Club creates a holistic recovery experience. After a deep, meditative float, the ice bath feels incredibly refreshing and invigorating, making it a perfect recovery combo.

2. Santai Recovery Spa Uluwatu

Santai Recovery Bingin

Santai Recovery is one of the newer and most popular space to ice bath in Bali, situated in popular Bingin. Santai Recovery Spa offers a super laid back vibe for the recovery space, and is also a really social space, which we love.

If you’re familiar with the area, Santai Recovery is situated reasonably close to the bustling gym (one of the best gyms in the world in my eyes) Bambu Fitness, and is pretty well on the way to Bingin Beach itself.

Santai has a really nice stadium style sauna with two big rock heaters with a large glass panel overlooking the pool and chill area for some top notch people watching while you take in the pleasures of the traditional sauna. The round ice bath is also equally as special, with space for about 8 to 10 people at a time - and sometimes it will be that full.

Services and Costs:

  • Ice Bath Session: Around AUD 45 / IDR 450,000

  • Infrared Sauna: AUD 35 / IDR 350,000

  • Massage Therapy: Prices start at AUD 60 / IDR 600,000

Why we love it:

The location itself is a major draw, because who doesn’t love a good stint in Bingin and Uluwatu while in Bali. The crowd that uses Santai also seems to be a lot of young and health conscious, laid back people from all over the world coming to improve their health and wellbeing.

3. Body Factory Canggu

Body Factory Canggu

In the bustling hub of Canggu, Body Factory is a sanctuary for fitness enthusiasts and wellness seekers. This place is renowned for its comprehensive fitness and recovery services. This is probably one of the busiest sauna and ice bath places in Bali, but there is also plenty of room inside to cater for big numbers.

Body Factory offers a perfect balance of high-energy fitness and calming recovery, making it ideal for those who want to push their limits and then recover efficiently. The vibrant atmosphere adds to its appeal. The huge sauna looks out onto the multiple temperature ice baths and there’s also a cafe serving some pretty epic food and smoothies to replenish post session.

The facilities are top-notch, and the community vibe makes it a welcoming spot for both locals and travellers. They also have one of the coldest ice baths ever, it sits at 4 degrees celsius but has a super strong flow rate, making it incredibly challenging.

4. The Istana Uluwatu

The Istana in Uluwatu is not just a wellness centre; it’s an experience. One of the key things you will notice when you go to Istana is that they are a no phone recovery space. This really allows you to switch off and disconnect while at Istana and makes it a stand out for recovery space in Bali. Perched high on the cliffs, overlooking Uluwatu this retreat offers a variety of wellness services aimed at deep recovery and relaxation.

When you go inside, you are taken by the long lap pool, and then the amazing panoramic views. The coconuts are cold and the coffee is good, so you can take your time. They have a few sessions per day, and shut down for cleaning in between to ensure the space is clean and up to standards the whole day which is great.

With the amount of people using this space, it does tend to get a little bit dirty in the ice bath and sauna, but if you get there early in the session time, it’s usually pretty tidy. The traditional sauna gets incredibly hot, and you might even find yourself in the middle of a chant in the unique yert style dome steam sauna which is a truly special sauna vibe.

The combination of stunning scenery and comprehensive recovery services provides an unparalleled experience that nourishes both body and soul.

Services and Costs:

  • Spa Sessions : Around AUD 33 / IDR 350,000 for peak times Friday, Saturday and Sunday

  • Meditation and Breathwork Classes: Prices vary

  • Complete Retreat Packages: Starting at AUD 200 / IDR 2,000,000
